The purpose of the organization is the betterment of the Longmont Estates Elementary School. It provides a liaison between Longmont Estates Elementary School parents and the school staff, and works to secure the best possible education for our children through joint efforts of the educators and general public.
About the PTO-
We consist of all parent volunteers. Together we work to provide fun activities and fundraising. Each year we look forward to the Fall Festival in October where students, their siblings and friends can come to a safe environment to trick or treat through the school halls and play some fun games, which might even include pieing Mrs. Haley! We also like to celebrate the end of the school year with a Spring Disco, so put on your dancing shoes and come on down for a great time. We have a DJ who will have the kids dance and limbo for prizes. Fall Festival and Spring Disco are not fundraising events. These are intended to be fun events sponsored by the PTO, and the small price of admission and tokens to play games, cover our expenses so that we generally break even financially on each event.
The PTO coordinates fundraisers throughout the year. Our biggest one being the Jog-A-Thon that takes place in September. The students will be given an envelope to collect donations from family and friends but we do not encourage or ask that the students go door to door. All donations are tax deductible and 100% of the proceeds to Longmont Estates Elementary. Also throughout the year we will have fundraising nights at restaurants located here in Longmont.
If you shop at King Soopers, be sure to stop by the office and pick up a re-loadable King Soopers gift card. When you use it make your purchases, the school will receive 5% cash back.
The funds raised by the PTO fundraisers provide funding for assemblies, classroom magazines, the Discovery Fair, Field Day, field trips, music programs, and classroom expenses. Extra money helps the PTO meet additional teacher requests for education supplies, resources, and programs.
In the 2015-2016 school year the PTO paid $4,000 to cover half of the cost for Avid 4 Adventure to come to the school and provide a day of fun for each grade.
In the 2016-2017 school year the PTO will be paying about $6,500 to allow the school to hire a part time para to assist in the 3rd grade.
All PTO Meetings are open to the entire Longmont Estates Community. Attend a meeting and discover what upcoming activities and events are being planned. We welcome your input, although voting is restricted to elected members.
The first 30 minutes of our meeting will be a general meeting with a variety of topics throughout the year, please see the meeting schedule to learn what topics have been planned so far. You are always to stay for the entire meeting.
